Secured Commercial e-Locks Platform
Our customer, a prominent commercial office furniture lock manufacturer, engaged Caribou from the project's outset to design electronics and firmware for early products.

As the product line expanded, we created hardware and firmware for HID RFID cards to control the locks and made them IoT compatible. We designed and produced an Edge Gateway, connecting lock clusters to the management portal for centralized control.
Our team customized OpenWRT Linux and implemented edge-based applications for gateway processing and cloud interaction limitations. The management portal, tailored to the customer's environment, uses Java-based Play framework, AngularJS, HTML5.0, and CSS3.0, with MongoDB for the database. HTTPS and MQTT facilitate communication. Our microservice-based architecture allows flexible vertical and horizontal scaling, offering an intuitive interface for lock management and comprehensive statistics and reports.

Caribou designed the hardware and implemented firmware for a microcontroller-based testbed. This testbed swiftly tested each component, delivering results on an LCD display in less than a minute. This innovation significantly reduced time, effort, and costs for the customer.
We developed various testbed versions to accommodate the customer's new chipsets. The Caribou IOT platform was utilized for remote monitoring and control of testers on production lines. These testers were cloud-connected, enabling real-time monitoring of test pass/fail rates, assessment of tester throughput, and analysis of ASIC failure trends by the head office operations staff.

From the very inception, Caribou has served as the Solutions Partner that involved the deployment of off-the-shelf commercial Android tablets. We developed a specialized kiosk mode software to secure these tablets, effectively preventing students from engaging in unapproved activities.
Caribou created an intuitive, patented, single step process for the enrollment of the users to the tablet using QR code technology.
As tablet numbers surged, we took a central role in choosing an OEM partner to switch from off-the-shelf tablets to custom Enterprise tablets.
